William Sebastian (Photo Michel Groleau) OTTAWA — The Ottawa Fat Cats of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced the signing of Gatineau’s William Sebastian, a right-handed pitcher, on Sunday.

The 6-foot, 175-pound hurler attended the Academie of Baseball Canada in Montreal from 2009 to 2011. Last season, he played for Laval in the Quebec Junior Elite League, striking out 62 batters in 62 innings.

In 2009, Sebastian played for the Midget AAA Gatineau Attack, coached by Fat Cats player-development co-ordinator Stéphane Pétronzio, collecting 52 strikeouts in 58 innings and compiling an earned-run average of 1.10. He is expected to compete for a spot in the Fat Cats’ starting rotation.

The Fat Cats begin their second season in the IBL with their home opener on May 21 against the Kitchener Panthers.
